Alexsander Kudajczyk

Once upon a time (in 2007 to be exact) there was a university janitor in Glasgow, Scotland name Aleksander Kudajczyk who originally came from Poland and decided to put down his mop to have a tinkle on a grand piano, thinking that no one would hear him. Fortunately, there was a camera in the corner of the room that revealed his great virtuoso talent. He blossom from lowly janitor to concert pianist after a spellbinding performance of Chopin compositions to an empty room. He was found by Joan Keenan, a secretary in the Glasgow University chaplaincy, who caught the pianist’s act. His unique story was reported worldwide and was translated into 30 languages. He has been interviewed and filmed for BBC and STV and recorded for radio in Scotland and abroad. Aleksander recently featured in a series for BBC Alba.

Aleksander was born in Ruda Sląska in 1978. He has been playing the piano since he was four years old, when his musical family discovered his talent. Aleksander then studied music and teaching at two of Poland's most prestigious conservatoires. He graduated from the Music Academy in Łódź, with an Honours Degree, where he studied under Tadeusz Chmielewski. Aleksander won the Józef Hoffmann Piano Competition in Nałęczów. He also participated in international piano competitions in Italy, Germany and most notably the International Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Utrecht.
He has played in many European countries and in the USA. Last year, again to a full house, he opened his home town's most important cultural event in Ruda Śląska. He performed Mozart's Piano Concerto with the Ruda Śląska Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Małgorzaty Kaniowskiej.

Aleksander has been recognised by the Polish Ministry of Culture and Heritage and he will be representing his homeland's famous composer when he plays a series of concerts to celebrate Chopin 2010, including concerts in Australia and Indonesia.

BBC News: “I couldn’t believe it – he was playing the most amazing music”

The Independent: “So perfect was the pianist, so flawless his playing…”

This coming 31th January 2010, Aleksander will come to Bali for the very first time to perform “Chopin Night” piano recital to celebrate Chopin 2010. This is definitely a true performance that cannot be missed.
