Bebel Gilberto, the queen of Nu Bossa returns to seduce Southeast Asia with her lush, sophisticated melodies that pair smooth Brazilian grooves with subtile electronica. On this tour she promotes her new critically-acclaimed debut on the Verve label, "All In One". Bebel last performed to sell-out crowds in Singapore in 2005 and 2007, now she makes a stop at Bali for the first time before she's going back to the Esplanade.
Bebel Gilberto is an American-born Grammy Award-nominated Brazilian popular singer. At the age of 9, Bebel had already performed at Carnegie Hall and throughout Brazil, through which she gained wide recognition. In 1991, she moved to New York, where she worked with artists like Caetano Veloso, Towa Tei, and Thievery Corporation. Later, she moved to London to vary her repertoire. Her diverse musical interests can be seen in her albums, which incorporate styles including samba, bossa sova, MPB (musica popular brasileira), and jazz. Her father, Joao Gilberto, is one of the pioneers of the bossa nova movement in Brazil.
Her debut album Tanto Tempo selling over a million copies worldwide and was also nominated for two Latin Grammy Awards, her songs featured on films such as Next Stop Wonderland and Closer and television shows such as Sex & The City, Six Feet Under, Nip Tuck and Entourage.
Her second album, Bebel Gilberto (2004), was also released to great critical acclaim, receiving a MOBO Award in the UK and also a World Music Grammy nomination.
