Mery Kasiman featured at Serambi Jazz

Serambi Jazz in August 2010 only presents one performer, Mery Kasiman, whose music projects present guest musicians, among others guitarist Dewa Budjana, bassist Barry Likumahuwa, saxophonist Arief Setiadi and pianist Riza Arshad.

Apart from being a very good piano player, Mery Kasiman is also a talented music arranger and director of whom we will certainly hear more in the future. At Serambi Jazz, Mery, who obtained her master from the Institut Musik Daya Indonesia, explores jazz music and own compositions with an unusual big band format. Not only brass, but especially woodwind instruments will receive more attention. Mery wants to make the clarinet and flute more dominant than the saxophone. Mery furthermore arranges many works of Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane that are rarely played.

You will see and hear that Mery Kasiman has a vision for her works. She rounds off the line of Indonesian music arrangers and directors.
